Senior Professor Deepika Amarasinghe earned her BSc (Special) Degree in Zoology from the University of Kelaniya in 1986 and PhD from the Imperial College of Science, Technology, and Medicine of the University of London in 1993. She is a Fellow Biologist of the Institute of Biology, Sri Lanka, and her research mainly involves Parasitology, Plant Nematology &  Applied Medical Entomology.
