Nafesa Ismail

Associate Professor, Kansai University

Dr Nafesa Ismail is a Specially Appointed Associate Professor in the Faculty of Societal Safety Sciences at Kansai University. She holds a PhD in Global Environmental Studies from Kyoto University and a Master’s in Disaster Prevention and Reduction from Kansai University.

Before she transitioned to Kansai University, she held the position of Chief Programme Officer at the APN Secretariat, where she was responsible for overseeing and managing collaborative regional research initiatives. She also supported the empowerment of early-career professionals to lead and participate in international research through the APN’s proposal development training workshop.

Dr Ismail’s expertise lies in international project management, stakeholder engagement, and multicultural collaborative learning. She has been involved in numerous international projects, connecting researchers, practitioners, and policymakers across diverse fields. Building on this experience, her current work at Kansai University focuses on advancing multicultural learning environments and strengthening community resilience through education and collaborative practice.
