The health effects of extreme temperatures are the most significant source of weather-related public health problems. They are also the most direct and well-understood of climate change impacts on human health. The full proposal of our research team aims to investigate the health effects of extreme temperatures and climate change in the Asia Pacific region and to formulate local adaptation strategies to deal with temperature-related health risks and reduce vulnerability. With the scientific and financial support from the APN, a scoping workshop will be held in Guangzhou, China with the purpose of broadening partnerships within the region. The scoping workshop is also intended to gather information among collaborators to further improve the research framework and methodologies of the full proposal to be submitted to APN in next Annual Calls for Proposals under the ARCP Programme.
