Collaborative Monitoring System for Enhanced Watershed Management in the Philippines

The project is envisioned to facilitate science-based watershed management in the Philippines, addressing the acute need to develop databases, and promote better understanding on the physical, biological and socioeconomic attributes of watersheds in relation to its vulnerabilities to climate change and other human and natural stressors and its impacts on watershed functions. This is ultimately expected to improve the responsiveness and effectiveness of watershed management decisions on climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, conservation of soil, water and biodiversity and other concerns. The project will focus on capability building for collaborative and participatory watershed monitoring (that engages various stakeholders) in watersheds (managed by government and by private sector) with existing monitoring systems and in watersheds where monitoring system is yet to be installed.
