| Summary of Project |
The overall aim of this project is to develop a regional risk management approach for selected climate-sensitive crop diseases. Furthermore, it also endeavours to secure regional integration of existing research, in the areas of climate, crop, disease epidemiology and food security, through the development of predictive modeling capabilities for proactive management. The value of the approach is demonstrated through concurrent applications to three index crops (peanut, canola and mustard) in selected areas, and the development of risk communication through engagement with local stakeholders. This two-year project, currently in its second year, will develop environmentally friendly management strategies, including limited pesticide usage, thereby increasing sustainability while contributing to strategic food production. |
