Beginning its Second Decade (2003-2012) the Land-Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone (LOICZ II), a Core Project of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Program (IGBP) and the International Human Dimensions Program on Global Environmental Change (IHDP), is organising its Inaugural Open Science Meeting, in June 2005. APN support will ensure the participation of natural and human dimension scientists from the Asia-Pacific region in order that they contribute to the future direction and agenda of LOICZ research and synthesis. The output will be the draft regional implementation strategy. It will address the earth system as well as regional coastal sustainability information needs.
