Summary of Project
|
This Comprehensive Research Project (CRP) enhances the regional knowledge and research capacity in the Southeast Asia countries on impact of climate change, vulnerability and adaptation on food production and water resource sectors. The project is now working on 2 GCM datasets, HadAM3P for the years 2070-99 and ECHAM4 for the years 2010-2099. The downscaling process is now completed for the climate projection under A2 greenhouse gases scenario (pessimistic projection). The B2 (more optimistic scenario) is being processed. A regional meeting to verify climate model simulation result on baseline period was held on 28-29 July 2007 and concept in adjusting result from climate model based on observation was agreed. Tools, SWAT and WEAP model for hydrological analysis, are also being tested and necessary data is being prepared. The impacts of climate change on future discharge from major watersheds are expected to be analysed from February–April 2008. Rice experiments for the second planting date is planted on August 16, 2007 and harvested on December 12, 2007. There are two more planting dates in 2008 season. The data to be generated from the experiment will be prepared for CERES-Rice model evaluation, which will be used to assess impact of climate change on rice production systems.
