Summary of Project
|
This Comprehensive Research Project (CRP) addresses several issues relating to climate change and food security as raised in the IPCC Third Assessment Report (TAR), Agenda 21, World summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) and as part of the key aspects of APN 2 nd Strategic Plan, specifically the "Use of Resources (food and water) and Pathways for Sustainable Development." It is expected to answer the question on how GEC affect water availability and what are consequences of these changes to food systems in five case study sites across the Indo-Gangetic Plain. A Decision Support System (DSS) Meeting was held in Kathmandu from January 30 to February 1, 2008 as follow-up of the earlier DSS Meeting held in Bangladesh in the first year of this project. Food system research continued and further insights were generated to discuss decision support (DS). The meeting has explored ways to feed study outcomes into the decision support process at micro and meso level. |
