The project will provide travel grants to invited researchers (7 junior/senior scientists, 7 Masters/PhD students) in developing countries of Southeast (SE) Asia. It will enable participation in the U.S.-Japan Workshop on Monsoon Asia Tropical Forest Carbon Dynamics and Sustainability to be held in Japan in early 2009. The grantees will include researchers engaged in activities relevant to policy and management for sustainability and/or forest ecosystem services in the context of the SE Asia regional carbon budget. A scheduled workshop will open opportunities for professional development through presentations and extensive dialogue with workshop participants from both developed and developing countries .
