The first Commitment Period under the Kyoto Protocol will take place in the period of 2008-2012. A number of activities to achieve the ultimate objective of the UNFCCC have been introduced and undertaken under the Kyoto Protocol since February 2005. However, further stringent actions are needed beyond 2012. This project aims to increase the capacity of research institutes in Asian countries and to build the capacity of related stakeholders in climate negotiation. It is expected that the increased capacity of involved research institutes will increase the capacity of developing countries negotiators to be actively involved in the international climate negotiation especially related to the future regime.
