Summary of Project
|
Developing country policy-makers, climate change negotiators and the NGOs attending the IPCC negotiations have limited capacities to relate global thinking with local actions. It is essential that they also understand the methodologies and techniques for assessing the impacts of climate change during the negotiations even if the actual scientific assessments could be carried out by trained scientific community. The project's main objective is to interactively build capacity and train policy-makers, researchers and the NGOs to understand issues of vulnerability and adaptation to changing climate. The goals and objectives will be achieved through awareness raising, knowledge creation, policy inputs and information dissemination activities. The expected outputs of this project include a synthesis and documentation of lecture sessions dealing with adaptation of human populations to future climate change in the region, workshop report on scientific evaluation of options for mitigating adverse impacts of climate change, and feedback report from participants on the role of state of art technologies in planning and monitoring adaptation strategies. |
