Research topics of the APN include changes in atmospheric composition; changes in coastal zones and inland waters; climate change and variability; and changes in terrestrial ecosystems and biodiversity. The primary concern of the APN is to provide an input to policy-making through the integration of the natural and social sciences. Accordingly, understanding the human dimensions of global change is at the heart of the APN's concerns.
