IPBES (Intergovernmental Platform for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services) is inviting Member States and Observers to provide views on the draft terms of reference for the review of the effectiveness of the administrative and scientific functions of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, contained in annex VII to decision IPBES-4/1.

In its decision IPBES-2/5, the Plenary of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services requested the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel in consultation with the Bureau to develop a procedure for the review of the effectiveness of administrative and scientific functions of the Platform (deliverable 4 (e)).

Draft terms of reference for the review were provided in document IPBES/4/16, and further developed during the fourth meeting of the Plenary. In its decision IPBES-4/1, the Plenary invited governments and stakeholders to provide views on the draft (contained in annex VII to decision IPBES-4/1), taking into account the need to integrate the internal and external elements of the review.

The Multidisciplinary Expert Panel, in consultation with the Bureau, will further refine the scope and terms of reference of the review in light of your comments for consideration by the Plenary at its fifth session.
