APN at RFCC Shares Best Practices of Effective Knowledge Transfer from Science Community to Policy Makers

1–3 July 2015, Bangkok, Thailand — APN participated in the Regional Forum on Climate Change (RFCC) themed “Low Carbon and Climate Resilient Societies: Bridging Science, Practice, and Policy,” which was recently held at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand and attended by a large number of climate change researchers, scientists, civil societies, as well as representatives from the government and private sectors.

APN, through its side event “Scientific Research and Capacity Development Initiatives to Address Adaptation, Mitigation and Climate Resilience in Southeast Asia” held on 1 July 2015, highlighted examples of best practices that integrate effective transfer of knowledge and information on adaptation, mitigation and climate resilience, from the science community to policy makers. Six APN project leaders presented evidences on how science has paved the way for a better understanding of climate change issues among policy makers and how outcomes of the APN projects were mainstreamed into policy planning, implementation and evaluation.
